SPECIALIZES IN PLAY THERAPY, TRAUMA & ANXIETY

“Just keep swimming.” – Dory from Finding Nemo
My name is Krista Bassani and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I graduated from Texas A&M University in 2017 with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience. I had originally considered a more clinical path, but I quickly realized that was not for me because I wanted to talk to, guide, and empower people, not run experiments. After I graduated from Texas A&M, I began working at a shelter for survivors of domestic violence and earned my Master of Arts in Counseling Education degree with an emphasis on Clinical Mental Health from Sam Houston State University. While in the program, I also earned my graduate certification in Play Therapy. In pursuit of the certification, I was trained in different forms of Play Therapy and Sand Tray Therapy, both of which I fully enjoy using in sessions. As I was finishing the program, I interned at the same women’s organization and utilized trauma-focused, cognitive-behavioral, and client-centered counseling with survivors of domestic violence to guide them in rebuilding their self-esteem, self-worth, and lives. It was an incredible experience that solidified my career path as a counselor. I have worked with children, adolescents, and adults who have concerns involving anxiety, depression, anger, behavior modifications, and life adjustments. I am so excited to begin our counseling journey together and guide you through life’s ups and downs. We’ve got this!
