SPECIALIZES IN DEPRESSION, ADJUSTMENT & BIPOLAR DISORDER
Taking the step to improve your life can be one of the most impactful experiences you have. There is nothing worse than feeling stuck or repeating the same life events over again with no success or change. Life can be difficult. Sometimes we can be blinded by negative thoughts or irrational beliefs about ourselves that only reaffirm the truths we set ourselves up to believe. This is where seeking out help becomes so crucial to your mental health journey.
My name is Lu-Cheree De Jager, Lu for short, and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate. I graduated from Liberty University in 2016 with a Bachelor’s in Psychology. After completing an internship at Humankind - a foster care facility in Virginia following my graduation, I quickly came to realize my passion for mental health care and education. I went back in 2017 to complete a Master’s of Art’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Liberty University from which I graduated in 2021. My future plans for this career and my growing passion to serve the mental health community have encouraged me to pursue my Doctorate in late 2022.
I am trained in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, The Gottman Method for couple’s therapy and will pursue EMDR psychotherapy (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) certification this year. Along with this, I am in the process of pursuing a LCDC-I certification in order to provide quality care and treatment to client’s with substance abuse barriers.
My goal for my clients are to encourage growth, empowerment and support while using proven evidence based practices to provide results and success in their treatment outcomes. As your counselor, I will serve as a guide to help you realize your true potential and empower you to overcome.
