Lydia Davis

My name is Lydia Davis and I am a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate under the supervision of Dr. Thelma Rouse, LPC-S, LMFT-S.  I have over 18 years of experience in education, spending time as an elementary teacher, middle school teacher and as a counselor in middle school and high school.  During my time as an educator, I realized the importance of developing good mental health which is what propelled me to continue my education.  After receiving my Master of Arts Degree in Counseling from Prairie View A&M University I continued my work in education as a middle and high school counselor.  In 2020, I wrote a book, titled “What Exactly Do School Counselors Do”.  My goal with writing my book was (and still is) to expose young children and adolescents to the benefits of talking to a counselor so that as they mature they view counselors and therapists in a positive light. I also wrote the book for parents as a way to expose their children to the world of counseling and to create a safe space where conversations could take place about feelings and mental health.  Being able to empower and encourage all members of a family to express themselves and better understand each other has truly been a fulfilling experience. That is actually what fueled my desire to work with adults and couples.  Working with adults has allowed me the opportunity to grow as a counselor and I am passionate about assisting individuals and couples with navigating though various life experiences.   I am also a Certified Life Coach and enjoy helping individuals from all walks of life set and achieve their goals.

As a counselor, my aim is to provide support and a positive therapeutic experience. I have a passion for empowering individuals, couples, and families to be their best and truest selves. My specialties include adults, couples, and teens and I have experience in the area of divorce, anxiety, and stress associated with life adjustments. Please allow me to help you work through life’s roadblocks and achieve your goals.
